As one of the largest martial arts and combat sports clubs in the South West, we know many of our members like to do multiple classes each week, whilst others prefer to do just one or two classes in a particular art.

As a result, we offer a fully flexible membership scheme, with no contract, which allows you to choose the right training programme for you. We have four different membership packages, varying from just a single class per week to unlimited training. There are concessions for students, unwaged and under 16s.

Payment is by monthly direct debit and, as there is no contract, you can discontinue your training at any time (we just ask for four weeks notice). We don’t ask you to commit to a particular class each week, so if you miss a class you can make it up over the following month with an alternative class. If you are away for four weeks or more we can suspend your payments until you return.

If you do decide to do multiple classes each week, we have found that people learn faster and have a more rounded experience when they train in the same discipline for at least two classes a week.

We hold regular gradings in Traditional Jiu Jitsu, BJJ, JTX Kick Boxing, Judo and Muay Thai, as well as all of the children’s classes. Grading are set by the national governing bodies and chief instructors. You will be asked to grade on completion of a minimum number of classes or at your instructors request.

On joining you will be given a membership card for Exeter Martial Arts. It’s important that you use this card to swipe in when you arrive for each class. This helps us track your attendance and ascertain when you are ready to grade. You will also receive a membership book / grading log which you will keep  as a record of all your gradings and achievements.

At Exeter Martial Arts we cater for children aged 3 and over.

If you are a parent bringing your child to a taster class you are welcome to stay and watch the classes in our mezzanine and enjoy our coffee machine and free wifi.
