All our instructors and coaches are fully qualified and insured. They have upto date first aid certificatioin and have enhanced CRB checks as per the Sport England governing body rules.

Dr Richard Catterick - Cheif Instructor
Full time professional coach and gym owner
Coaches - Jiu Jitsu, BJJ, Sword and Staff, MMA, Taiji, Lionhearts.

Richard has been training and teaching martial arts for coming up to 25
years. He holds black belts in several jiu jitsu schools plus sword and staff schools. He is the BJJAGB (Sport England governing body) senior coach in the south west after achieving his 5th Dan black belt in 2011. He coaches the sucessful Exeter MMA team and is a blue belt coach with Sidney Silva (BJJ). He has a PhD in Oncology (cancer) and a couple of other degrees but now is teaching full time at the gym the considerable breadth of his knowledge.

He is the back bone of the gym and his enthusiasm, attention to detail, good humour and quality spread to all who train with us.

Dr Helen Catterick

Coaches - Jiu Jitsu, Lionhearts& Little Lions

Helen is a part time coach and local GP. She heads up our very popular little lions programme for 4-6yr olds. She is a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and has won numerous national and international titles in sport jiu jitsu.

She is always smiling and very positive.

Jacob Kamper

Jacob is a Shodan black belt in Jiu Jitsu. He began training 6years ago. He is studying for a masters degree at Exeter University. He is currently the top light heavy weight in the UK MMA league.

He trains hard and has a great teaching style.
