BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, often likened to human chess, is as much a battle of wits as it is a battle of the bodies - techniques rely on leverage, superior body positioning, and intelligent movement rather than brute force. At the same time, it’s a great workout for the body and will greatly improve your core strength as well as your body coordination.

Our head coach instructor is Dr Richard Catterick who is a black belt under  Professor Sidney Silva. Sidney is a 3rd degree black belt,  Rickson Gracie lineage. He is also a former pro MMA fighter and now coaches current UFC fighters in Las Vegas.

We have a three class introductory course that will ensure complete beginners have all the tools they need to get the most from BJJ. These classes take place during our fundamental sessions. All classes are beginner friendly and are designed to benefit both beginners and more experienced practitioners.

During our classes we do a mix of drills, stand-up and ground techniques, and free rolling. Once you have trained 20 classes with EMA BJJ you will also have the option of attending our weekly open mat session  to further develop your game.

We have two fundamental and one advanced class per week plus an additional strength and conditioning class making you can train up to 4 times a week. Plus once you have trained 20 classes with EMA BJJ you will also have the option of attending our weekly open mat session  to further develop your game. Classes  for Adults 16+,
